New Patients

It takes courage to seek help. But we are here to support you in overcoming any challenges you face.

We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.

– Mother Teresa, Catholic saint (1910-1997)

The Process

Most, but not all, patients take the following path in treatment. Your path will depend on the severity of your problem , your response to therapeutic measures, and your ability to be an active participant in the management of your situation

Your first visit with your doctor will entail a deep look at what is holding you back, including any organic issues, your family history, or problems such as substance abuse.

You and your doctor will agree on a treatment plan. It may involve medication, psychotherapy, or both. Many patients benefit from therapy even if they are skeptical.

This is the "remission" phase when an organic condition is under control or you are making real progress in psychotherapy. The goal is to be as stable and content as possible.

Often, medication needs to be fine-tuned. Or you may face a sudden life stressor. Ongoing followup visits help your doctor to evaluate and treat any changes in your status.
